"Nerd Play" performance

Finally got round to uploading my final performance for my Fine Art degree. I've uploaded a short 2 minute clip of the good quality documentation on my website, but here is the full length performance in front of an audience on assessment day! Sorry about the awful quality.

What to do next?

I've been home for a week now and I'm already missing Nottingham and being an art student! While trying to unpack and sort out my bedroom, and getting used to living with my parents again, I've been thinking about what I actually want to do.. and the truth is I have no idea.

I've been thinking of applying for the Surface Gallery's 'Open Show' in Nottingham, but I'm not really sure how my performance work would fit into an actual exhibition. For the degree show my most successful performance was for the private view, as the audience was a good size. I did one other performance during the week it was open to the public, but even then I had a set audience: the new Fine Art first years. So I don't know whether just having a time slot every day of an exhibition would work, as it could only attract one or two people which, for a lecture style performance, would be a bit pointless.

I feel like I could do with another couple of months in uni! As I only really started to feel like I was getting somewhere with my work, and actually starting to enjoy it, towards the end of the year. I think I could extend and build upon my work further, but without the pressure of uni deadlines, will I have the motivation?

I don't want my performance practice to end yet, but I'm unsure of how to move it forward outside the safety net of the Fine Art course.

Euro-English

A tutor sent this to me today, thought it was funny and worth putting on here! Enjoy! :)

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than the other possibility, German.

As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5-year phase-in plan that would become known as 'Euro-English'.

In the first year, 's' will replace the soft 'c'. Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard 'c' will be dropped in favour of 'k'. This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter.

There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome 'ph' will be replaced with 'f'. This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible.

Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling.

Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent 'e' in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.

By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing 'th' with 'z' and 'w' with 'v'.

During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary 'o' kan be dropd from vords kontaining 'ou' and after ziz fifz yer, vevil hav a reil sensibl riten styl.

Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru.
Und efter ze fifz yer,ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forstplas.

NTU Fine Art Degree Show!

Had the private view for our degree show last night. It went really well :) There's some really good work this year I think!
I did my performance at 8pm and had about 75 people in the audience which I was really pleased with. Had some good feedback after too, was pleased that a tutor who marked my work in February thought my performance had progressed really well!
I'm soo tired today though. Got a few days break now til my final performance on Wednesday in front of the new first years! Will be interesting to see how they react.
Anyway, here are a few picture from the show! I'll post a video of my performance soon!
Enjoy :)
